Overview
The PreOPS server is located in the prepress department and is typically on the same network as the prepress department. It performs the following functions:
- Retrieves/receives and processes CIP3, TIFF, or PDF files for presetting.
- Provides mass storage for job data
- Stores all IntelliSetâ„¢ system software for the OPS and the PreOps
- All software updates are installed at the PreOPS
- Software updates and press configuration changes are automatically downloaded from the PreOPS to each OPS in the pressroom
- Provides a backup for critical OPS files
- Backs up job information, learned press and paper characteristics, and press configuration data
- Eliminates the need for operators to perform backups at the OPS
- Remote Web-Based Access allows remote access to the IntelliSet system using a standard Internet browser such as Microsoft's Internet Explorer.
The Rutherford PreOPS server computer is based on the Dell PowerEdge 1U server or Dell Optiplex 960 Mini-Tower, depending on the form factor required for the installation.
All servers are configured with the following features:
- Multi-core Intel Processor
- RAID system for data protection
- DVD-ROM drive
- Gigabit Ethernet ports
- Windows® XP operating system or later
- LCD monitor, keyboard, and mouse are optional
